Sky Wound Syndrome (for the event, see Sky Wound Incident)
Sky wound syndrome (SWS), also called sudden bioreconstruction and colloquially known as ‘inside out disease’ is the process of an organism’s body being changed into an anomalous entity. Upon exposure to certain wavelengths emitted during the Sky Wound Incident, certain individuals were violently mutilated by an unseen force, reshaping and moulding the body into another form.
Symptoms are fast and unavoidable. All known victims of sky wound syndrome have been known to scream in excruciating pain in the few seconds before loss of consciousness. This is due to the process beginning with the blood of those affected, in which all of an organism’s blood is forcibly torn from the veins and through the skin, coalescing into a red orb which quickly darkens when removed from the body. At this point sufferers of sky wound syndrome usually cease any vocalizations. The muscles, organs, and bones then quickly crumple into a shape unseeable by the human eye. It is theorized that the dark orb then blends together with the unseeable shape before it melts into a viscous liquid. This liquid then takes the shape of an anomalous lifeform, and quickly gains sentience. The anomalous organism retains no memories or identity of its prior form, and due to this it is speculated that sufferers of sky wound syndrome die during the process.
Testing has revealed that the process of sudden bioreconstruction breaks down the bodies of those affected into their base elements, some of which are as of yet unknown to modern science. Recent research has shown that some amounts of ‘anomalous matter’ are added into the process during the forming of the unseeable shape. Due to this, world governments have advised the public to consider the anomalous beings produced by sky wound syndrome to not be human, and that those exposed to the wavelengths are to be considered lost.
